Naira: NGN                FACTS
 Introduced in 1973 replacing the British pounds

Coins were introduced in denominations of ½, 1, 5, 10 and 25 kobo in 1973,
In 1973, CBN introduced notes for 50 kobo, 1, 5, 10 and 20 naira respectively
In 1991, N50 notes were introduced,
N100 in 1999,
N200 in 2000,
N500 in 2001
N1000 on October 12, 2005.
